If they aren't, the manufacturer should say something like "We do not promote this kit for use on public roads or highways. These are strictly for show or for private road use." However, most vertical door kits are legal in the U.S. I would ask the company your buying from to make sure however. Also, if they aren't quit street legal, I've found that many law enforcement vehicles don't care as long as it's not posing a safety issue.
